Litchfield Students’ Poignant Message Wins National Contest 3

We visited Litchfield High School in Minnesota to shoot the winning public service announcement in the “Safe Rides Save Lives” contest developed by FCCLA — Family, Career and Community Leaders of America — and sponsored by the National Road Safety Foundation.

As part of their prize for winning the national competition, the three teens worked with Emmy Award-winning television director Tuesday to make their public service message concept into a finished 30-second TV ad that will air on more than 220 TV stations nationally later this year. Larson, Ridgeway and Smith will also appear on “Teen Kids News,” a weekly, nationally-syndicated news program, where they will discuss their winning idea. Air dates are not yet known.

The Litchfield FCCLA members spent the day working with director Alan Weiss to reproduce their original video. Weiss, an eight-time Emmy winner, also produces “Teen Kids News,” seen across the country on more than 200 TV stations and online.
